Colorado State University head coach Jen Warden today announced that Kandy Beemer, a standout guard from Jefferson College, has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play at Colorado State University during the 2007-08 season.

Kandy Beemer (5-5, Guard, Bedford, Iowa/Jefferson College)

Beemer, a 5-5 guard from Bedford, Iowa, played two seasons at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., where she helped lead the 2006-07 team to a 31-5 record, District K Championship, and an appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship Tournament.  Beemer played in all 33 games for the Vikings in 2006-07, averaging 16 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  Beemer also led the nation in 3-point field goal percentage connecting at a 51.5 percent clip, hitting 123-of-239 shots from long range.  Last season, Beemer also ranked as one of the top free throw shooters in the country at 87.7 percent (64-for-73).  She earned 1st team District 16 honors and Academic All-Region honors from the NJCAA.

Warden on Beemer:  "Kandy may be the most proficient 3-point specialist that CSU has seen. To average five made 3-pointers a game is an impressive statement about not only Kandy's shooting ability, but her ability to work off the ball and create space for her shot. We are thrilled to welcome Kandy to the Ram family, for what she will add as a scorer, leader and honors student."

Beemer becomes the second student-athlete signed by the Rams during the spring signing period, and the seventh to sign with the Rams since last fall.  She joins Lauren Young (6-2, PF, Edina, Minn./Edina HS), Elle Queen (6-0, F, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS), Whitney Wood (6-2, F, Ladera Ranch, Calif./Santa Margarita HS), Danielle Albus (5-9, G, Aumsville, Ore./Cascade HS), Bonnie Barbee (5-8, G, Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain HS) and Zoi Simmons (5-6, Guard, Fontana, Calif./ IMG Academy (Fla.)).
