COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State guard Chelsea Hopkins earned Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played from Feb. 4-10, 2013. It is the fourth honor of the season for Hopkins and the sixth of her MW career. Hopkins, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., led San Diego State to a 2-0 record with road wins at Boise State (64-40) and Fresno State (74-49). With the score tied at 12 against the Broncos, Hopkins sparked a 17-9 Aztecs' run to close the first half, scoring six points, handing out three assists, grabbing two rebounds and two steals, and blocking a shot during the stretch. She finished the game with 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists and a blocked shot, and tied a career-high with five steals. Hopkins shot 6-of-10 from the field (.600). In a battle of the MW teams tied for first place, Hopkins logged her ninth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Bulldogs on Saturday night. She buried her only two three-pointers of the game during a 14-4 run to start the game. Hopkins added seven assists and two steals while shooting 7-of-10 (.700) from the field. For the week, Hopkins was 13-of-20 (.650) from the floor and hit 1-of-2 (.500) from the free throw line. She averaged 15.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 3.5 steals over the two games. Hopkins also recorded one blocked shot during the week.
