Mountain West Conference Announces Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week New Mexico's Georonika Jackson and Utah's Kalee Whipple share the honors
Feb. 8, 2010 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico senior Georonika Jackson and Utah senior Kalee Whipple have been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Hailing from Sugar Land, Texas, Jackson scored a season-high 14 points in 24 minutes of action at San Diego State, helping the Lobos beat their third-straight Conference leader. Jackson hit 5-of-8 (.625) shots from the field and went 4-for-6 (.667) from the free-throw line, in addition to recording two steals. She pulled down three rebounds, while also adding an assist and a block in New Mexico's 65-58 victory over the Aztecs. Whipple scored 20 points, including 11 in the second half, to lead the Utes to a road victory over Colorado State. The Hiko, Nev., native made 8-of-16 (.500) shots from the floor, including a game-tying three-pointer with 2:42 left in the contest to tie the score at 63 apiece. Whipple went on to clinch the 68-65 win for the Utes by hitting two free throws with 29 seconds remaining. She also grabbed five rebounds, had two assists and recorded two steals in the triumph. This marks Jackson's first career weekly honor and Whipple's seventh.
