LUBBOCK, Texas --- Caroline Durbin scored 17 points but received little scoring help Friday night, and the University of New Mexico women's basketball team committed 30 turnovers in a 69-43 season-opening loss at Texas Tech in Yvonne Sanchez's debut as Lobo head coach.

Durbin, a junior guard from Austin, Texas, shot 8-of-9 from the floor and made her only 3-point attempt, but the rest of the Lobos combined for a 10-of-37 shooting performance. Porche Torrance, Whitney Johnson and Deeva Vaughn each scored six points.

Kelsi Baker led four Lady Raiders players in double-figure scoring with 12 points. Texas Tech also had its shooting woes, going 4-of-22 from the 3-point line and hitting just 15-of-29 free throws. But the Raiders had 21 steals to UNM's two to keep a safe distance from the Lobos for most of the night.
