Air Force wins its first-ever Mountain West Conference Tournament game, after losing in the quarterfinals the previous seven years. The Falcons also become the first 9th seed to ever win an MWC Tournament game.
Colorado State is now 7-7 all-time in MWC Tournament games.
Alecia Steele of Air Force scored the game-winner, as she grabbed an offensive board and scored on the putback with just 0.07 seconds left for a 47-46 victory.
Steele's rebound on the final play was her 10th of the night, and with 17 points she records her eighth double-double of the season, which leads the MWC.
The game-winner for Air Force came after a basket by Emily Neal of Colorado State, which had given CSU its only lead of the second half, 46-45 with 50 seconds left in the game.
Air Force opened the second half on a 10-1 run over the first 5:26, turning a one-point halftime deficit into an eight-point lead, 30-22, and the Falcons did not trail again in the game.
Colorado State's Marilyn Moulton finished the game with seven offensive rebounds, to make her the fourth player in Mountain West Conference history to record 100 offensive rebounds in a single season.
Air Force won for just the third time this season out of 21 games when trailing at halftime.
Colorado State's Juanise Cornell set a new MWC Tournament freshman record for steals with four. The previous record had been three, held by five other players.
The 46 points scored by Colorado State was the lowest by an Air Force opponent this season, and was the second-lowest ever scored by CSU in the MWC Tournament.
Air Force advances to the quarterfinals against top seed BYU at 6 p.m., Wednesday.
