VANCOUVER, B.C. - Kamil Pajkowski and Graeme Kassautzki both earned wildcard births into the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open qualifying draw. The Odlum Brown is a Challenger series mid-level pro event in their native Canada. They earned their place in the tournament based on the points they had accumulated during the summer playing in various events. Pajkowski had to earn his wildcard in a playoff match which he won 3-6 7-6(7-2) 6-2, while Kassautzki had enough points to enter without a playoff. Over this past weekend both Pajkowski and Kassautzki played first round matches, needing to win three to move on to the main draw of the Odlum Brown event.

Kassautzki fell in his first match to Christoph Palmanshofer a former standout for the University of Washington 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Kassautzki who will be a sophomore for New Mexico in the fall has proven he can play with some of the top tennis players in the nation.

Pajkowski was able to defeat his first round opponent with little trouble 6-3, 6-1. In the second round he faced off against the No. 631 ranked player in the world in Jason Marshall and fell 6-3, 6-2.

Even though the Lobos came up short in singles the duo have hooked up in doubles as well defeating Luis Fernando Manrique and Kiantki Thomas 6-3, 7-6 (4) who are both excellent players and are ranked in the top 600 in the world. Pajkowski and Kassautzki will now take on the No.1 seeded team in the qualifying draw and with a win would earn a spot in the main draw of the tournament.
