Skillman, N.J. - Teammates Corrie Scheepers and Nicholas Yip were selected as 2001 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Scholar-Athletes. Scheepers and Yip were also selected to the Men's Tennis Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. Scheepers, a finance major, has a 3.74 overall cumulative GPA, while Yip, also a finance major holds a 3.72 overall cumulative GPA.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA four-year program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA or NAIA eligibility form and have competed in one or more matches are averaged into the cumulative grade point average. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status at the NCAA and NAIA level a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a junior or senior in school, 2.) be a varsity letterwinner, and 3.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale).
