Nash, Mabatah Tabbed MWC Scholar-Athletes Nash leads all TCU student-athletes with perfect 4.0 gpa during past year

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Fifty-one TCU student-athletes were honored by the Mountain West Conference with Scholar-Athlete Awards for the 2008-09 school year, the league office announced Wednesday. The Horned Frogs had representatives from 15 athletic programs receive honors, including baseball, men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, rifle, soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and volleyball. Junior men's tennis player Cameron Nash recorded a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average while 22 other TCU student-athletes posted a 3.75 or higher. Fellow tennis player Kelubia Mabatah also earned a scholar-athlete award. Student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport in order to be eligible for Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete Award - which is the highest academic honor by the conference.
