Colorado Springs, Colo. Three Mountain West Conference players were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American teams for NCAA Division I tennis announced today by the ITA out of Princeton, N.J. On the women¹s side, UNLV¹s Katarina Malec played her way to All-America status by reaching the singles semifinals of the NCAA Championships. On the men¹s side, both New Mexico¹s Matt Amgwerd and San Diego State¹s Alex Waske earned the award by virtue of their top-16 seeding in singles for the NCAA Championship.
In order to achieve ITA All-American status a player must meet one of the following criteria in
singles and/or doubles:
Singles
1.) Top 16 seed in NCAA Singles Championships, or
2.) Reach round of 16 in NCAA Singles Championships, or
3.) Finish in the Top 20 of the final WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
Doubles
1.) Top eight seed in NCAA Doubles Championships, or
2.) Reach quarterfinals of NCAA Doubles Championship, or
3.) Finish in Top 10 of final WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
