SALT LAKE CITY - Four Utah student-athletes were named to the Verizon Academic All-America District VIII At-Large First Team today. Gymnast Theresa Kulikowski, along with skiers Petra Svet and Jernej Bukovec and tennis player Kaisorn Chaichana now advance to the national ballot, which will be released June 10. In order to be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA, must be a starter or an important reserve and be in at least their second season at their current school.

Chaichana, a biology major with a pre-medical emphasis, has compiled a 3.99 GPA. The Sandy, Utah, native is a two-time Academic All-American and was recently given the Burtis Evans Award in a ceremony at the University of Utah. The award is given to the University's top academic male athlete. He has won the tennis team's academic award the last three seasons. This year, he recorded a 13-12 singles record (12-8 dual meets).
