Three Netters Honored Zivkovic, Schneiter and Skorin all named 2001 All-MWC.
May 2, 2001 LAS VEGAS - UNLV tennis senior Nenad Zivkovic earned First Team All-Mountain West Conference honors in both singles and doubles as part of the annual awards announced by the league Wednesday.
Zivkovic, 17-9 playing at No. 1 singles, is ranked 87th nationally and will look to earn his first singles bid into the NCAA Championships later this week. Joining the Belgrade, Serbia, native on the team was No. 2 singles player Thomas Schneiter (11-8), who excelled as a junior after transferring from the University of Oregon.
In doubles, Zivkovic and Skorin (11-10), who were once the nation's top-ranked doubles team in 1999, were the only men's duo named first team all-conference for the second consecutive season.
Conference champion BYU, which downed UNLV in last weekend's final, boasted both the MWC Coach of the Year in Jim Osborne and Freshman of the Year in Eric Nyman. San Diego State's Oliver Maiberger was named the league's Player of the Year.
The 49th-ranked Rebels (13-11) will learn if they are invited to the NCAA team tournament on Thursday.
