San Diego State defeats Air Force, 4-0, at MWC Championships Falcons finish 2004 season with 12-14 record
April 29, 2004 The Air Force men's tennis team finished its 2004 season Thursday with a 4-0 loss to San Diego State in the first round of the 2004 Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Championships. The Falcons, seeded sixth, completed their campaign with a 12-14 record, their first losing season since 1976. The Aztecs won the doubles point with victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions. The No. 3 match was the first off the court when SDSU's Daniel Jung and Michael Coehlo defeated Chris Dong and Justin Lau of Air Force, 8-0. The Aztecs clinched the point when Markus Dickhardt and Dontia Haynes beat Trevor Johnson and Sky Jensen, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 match was then halted. San Diego State clinched the match with straight set wins at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles. Jung defeated Dong, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, followed soon by Dickhardt, who beat Falcon Tyler McClung, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3. Haynes closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Lau at the No. 5 spot. The other three matches were then halted.
