Stotland Named MWC Men's Tennis Player Of The Week This is his second honor of the season
April 22, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Junior Ryan Stotland was named the Mountain West Conference Player Of The Week after posting a 2-0 record in singles play last weekend and helping the 65th-ranked Lobos clinch the MWC regular season title. Stotland is now the second New Mexico men's player to garner the award twice this season. Overall, UNM has claimed five of the 12 awards this season. Stotland, a Boise, Idaho native, competed at No. 3 singles, beating Utah's Miron Mann in three sets (4-6, 6-1, 7-6) on Friday. Celebrating his 21st birthday on Saturday, he cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over BYU's Chip Hand. Stotland and the rest of the Lobos will compete for their second consecutive Mountain West Conference Tournament title April 30-May 1 in San Diego, Calif. The Lobos earned the number one seed and will play either 4th-seeded BYU or 5th-seeded Utah on Friday, April 30th at 11 a.m.
