COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico juniors Ryan Stotland and Michelle Heidbrink have been named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively.

Stotland, a Boise, Idaho, product, posted a 2-0 record in singles play and added a win in doubles competition last week, helping the 65th-ranked Lobos clinch the MWC regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament with wins over Utah and BYU. Competing at No. 3 singles, he started the weekend beating Utah's Miron Mann in three sets (4-6, 6-1, 7-6) and followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over BYU's Chip Hand. At No. 1 doubles, Stotland teamed with David Kowalski to defeat Utah's Mann and Roeland Brateanu and BYU's Erik Nyman and Nima Roshan, 9-7.

Heidbrink, from Manhattan Beach, Calif., posted three singles and doubles wins as the No. 28 UNM women clinched its first-ever Mountain West Conference regular season championship. At No. 4 singles, she beat UNLV's Cindy Treber (1-6, 6-3, 6-3), San Diego State's Aleysa Vidov (6-4, 6-0) and Air Force's Gina Black (7-5, 6-3).
