San Diego State Crowned MWC Regular-Season Men's Tennis Champions Aztecs post perfect 5-0 record in conference play.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State University earns the regular season men's tennis title after posting a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. The No. 59th-ranked Aztecs were undefeated against Mountain West Conference opponents, giving them the outright title. This marks the first year a regular-season champion was named in men's tennis after the league adopted a regular-season conference schedule. The Aztecs are seeded first going into the Mountain West Conference Men's Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 26-28. The Aztecs compiled a 14-9 overall record this season. New Mexico finished second in the conference at 4-1 earning a No. 2 seed in the tournament. By finishing 2-3 in the conference, UNLV and BYU tied for third. The Rebels earn the third seed in the tournament after beating BYU, 4-3, during the regular season. Utah and Air Force tied for fifth-place at 1-4, but the Utes beat the Falcons, 5-2, to earn the fourth seed.
The University of Utah will host the 2001 Mountain West Conference Men's
Tennis Championship. The first match takes place April 26 at 10:00 a.m.,
between No. 3 seed UNLV vs. No. 6 seed Air Force.
