COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV sophomore Henner Nehles was named Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Nehles, a Duisberg, Germany, native, posted a 2-0 record in singles play and a 1-0 record in doubles competition last week, helping UNLV wins over conference foes Utah and No. 64 San Diego State. Competing at No. 1 singles, he started the week beating Utah's Roeland Brateanu in three sets (6-7, 6-2, 6-4). With the score tied at three apiece against the 64th-ranked Aztecs, Nehles upset No. 63 Felix Hardt, 7-6, 3-6, 5-1 (Hardt retired due to injury), to give the Rebels the 4-3 victory and sole possession of first-place in the conference. He also teamed with Aviram Salomon to defeat SDSU's Markus Dickhardt and Dontia Haynes at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. Nehles, currently ranked 77th in the nation, is 16-6 (12-4 at the No. 1 position) overall on the season in singles play and 17-6 (11-4 dual) overall in doubles action.
