COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU senior Eric Nyman and Colorado State freshman Emily Kirchem were named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively.

Nyman, from Upsala, Sweden, and ranked No. 59 in the nation, posted a 2-0 record in singles play and tallied a doubles win last week as BYU posted a 1-1 record. Competing at the No. 1 position, he started the week with a 4-6, 7-5 (12-10) come-from-behind upset victory over No. 10 Stanford's Sam Warburg (ranked 23rd in the nation) and followed with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 win over Balazs Veress of No. 30 California, helping the Cougars to the 4-3 upset win. Nyman also teamed with Nima Roshan to tally a win at No. 1 doubles.

Kirchem, from Fairview, Oregon, led the Colorado State to a 2-0 record last week, posting a pair of victories at the No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles positions. In CSU's 5-2 win over conference foe Wyoming, she beat Yuliani Santi in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) and, along with Dasha Zhurin, defeated Santi and Jennifer Hancock, 8-3. Against Northern Colorado, Kirchem blanked Meredith Krystofik, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Zhurin to beat Jan Ikeda and Renee Nuccio (8-2).
