COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -¬ UNLV's Henner Nehles and Elena Gantcheva, both of UNLV, have been selected the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively.

Nehles, a senior from Duisburg, Germany, plays No. 1 singles and No. 1 and 2 doubles for the Rebels. He helped then-No. 47 UNLV to three wins in four matches last week at the Rebels defeated Yale, then-No. 75 Portland and No. 71 Arkansas. Nehles won three out of his four matches in both singles and doubles. He defeated No. 57 Rojan Gajjar of Arkansas, 6-4, 6-4, and also beat his opponents from Yale and Portland. In doubles, Nehles and partner Sean Hubbard defeated their Yale, Portland and Arkansas opponents. UNLV moved up to No. 42 in the ITA rankings this week.

Gantcheva, a freshman from Sofia, Bulgaria, plays No. 1 singles and No. 1 and 3 doubles for UNLV. Now ranked No. 22 nationally, Gantcheva posted four victories last week, two in singles and two in doubles, without a loss. The then-No. 32 Lady Rebels defeated #27 Indiana, 6-1, and lost to No. 7 Duke, 5-2. Gantcheva defeated No. 35 Katie Blaszak of Duke, 6-4, 7-6, and No. 99 Dora Vasteg of Indiana, 6-2, 6-4. She teamed with Sharon Marin at No. 1 doubles to defeat their Duke opponents and help UNLV win the doubles point against the Blue Devils.
