COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Ryan Redondo, a Carlsbad, Calif. native, went 2-0 for the week in both singles and doubles competition at the Blue/Gray Collegiate Classic in Montgomery, Ala., leading the Aztecs to two wins against top-35 teams. Redondo started the week by defeating No. 25 Virginia Commonwealth's Mats Norin in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) at No. 4 singles. The next day against South Alabama, he teamed with Oliver Maiberger to beat Zlatko Stupavsky and Jullien Gillet in No. 1 doubles, 8-1. In the Aztecs loss to 8th-ranked Illinois, Redondo defeated No. 71 Michael Calikins (6-1, 7-5) at No. 4 singles and with Maiberger def. Calkins and Amer Delic at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. San Diego State is currently ranked No. 25 in the nation, while Redondo and Maiberger are the No. 3 doubles tandem in the nation.
