COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -¬ UNLV's Joel Kielbowicz and Anastasia Sourkova of BYU have been selected the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively.

Kielbowicz, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev., plays No. 2 singles and No. 1 and 2 doubles for the Rebels. He earned his first national singles ranking of the year last week at No. 91, and then won all three of his singles matches for UNLV. Kielbowicz helped the Rebels win two of their three matches last week, including a 4-3 win over No. 10 Oklahoma State, UNLV's first-ever win over a top-10 team. UNLV also beat No. 60 Ball State, 4-3. With their victories, the Rebels jumped 24 spots in the team rankings this week from No. 71 to No. 47. Kielbowicz won all three of his singles matches and two doubles matches, including the deciding point against the Cowboys, beating Tomas Bohunicky, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. He has won nine straight singles matches.

Sourkova, a freshman from Moscow, Russia, plays No. 2 and 3 singles and No. 1 and 2 doubles for the Cougars. She helped then-No. 24 BYU win four matches last week, including two victories over ranked teams as the Cougars beat No. 31 South Carolina, 4-1, and No. 22 Notre Dame, 6-1. BYU also won its first MWC match of the year, 7-0, over Utah. Sourkova won all eight of her matches, four singles and four doubles, including a 6-0, 6-2, victory over her opponent from Notre Dame. She lost just seven games in her Utah, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State matches combined and has not lost a singles match since January 28 against Kansas State. Sourkova teamed with Jennifer Miccoli for four doubles victories, including an 8-5 victory over Notre Dame that clinched the doubles point for the Cougars. BYU is now ranked No. 22 in the ITA team rankings.
