MWC Players of the Week
Tyler McClung and Jennifer Hancock named men's and women's player of the week, respectively.
March 8, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force junior Tyler McClung and Wyoming senior Jennifer Hancock were named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. McClung, a Puyallup, Wash., native, went undefeated in four singles and four doubles matches last week as Air Force posted a 2-2 record. Competing at the No. 4 spot, McClung opened the weekend with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Mike Good of Army, followed by another straight set win (6-4, 6-1) over Montana State's Branden Olson. The next day, he defeated Sergi Vila of Drake, 6-3, 6-4 and beat John Ghani of Missouri-Kansas City, 6-1, 6-1. McClung also teamed with Shannon Buck to post a 4-0 record in No. 1 doubles play. Hancock, from Spanish Fort, Ala., led Wyoming to a 2-0 record over the weekend, posting a pair of victories in singles and doubles play. She started the weekend with a straight set win (6-3, 6-0) over Weber State's Briana Beauchene at No. 4 singles. In the Cowgirl victory over Montana State, she defeated Katy Clarke at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-1.
