Colorado Springs, Colo. - UNLV senior Nenad Zivkovic and San Diego State University sophomore Lindsey Hedberg have been selected Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. Both players are first time award winners this season.

Zivkovic, of Belgrade, Serbia, was unbeaten in five matches last week as he led the Rebels to the championship of the UNLV Spring Invitational, marking the sixth straight year the Rebels have won the event. UNLV defeated Utah State (7-0), Northern Arizona (7-0) and Colorado (4-3) to claim this year's title. Zivkovic, ranked 85th in singles and 36th in doubles, improved his singles record to 11-3 this season after victories in the No. 1 slot over top singles players for Northern Arizona (6-3, 6-1) and Colorado (2-6, 7-5, 6-3). He also teamed up with Danny Erez for a doubles win over Utah State (8-1), and he partnered with Gregor Skorin for doubles victories over Northern Arizona (8-2) and Colorado (8-5).

Hedberg, of Austin, Texas, keyed San Diego State to wins over Loyola Marymount (6-1) and UC-Irvine (6-1) last week. She posted a No. 2 singles victory over Loyola Marymount's Angelina Zdorovytska (6-2, 2-6, 6-3), and picked up a No. 1 singles win over UC-Irvine's Darian Chappell (6-1, 3-6, 6-2). Hedberg teamed with Silvia Tornier for a doubles victory over Loyola Marymount (9-7) in the No. 1 slot. Hedberg is 2-2 in singles play this season.
