COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU's Cosmin Cotet and Air Force's Christine Abayan have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively.

A junior from Silvestru, Romania, Cotet posted a 3-1 record in his first four matches of the season. Against UTPA, Cotet played at the No. 1 singles spot and easily defeated Gary Bianco 6-0, 6-1, and teamed up with Stuart Row to earn the doubles point. The tandem of Cotet and Kriegler Brink upset the No. 23 Clemson doubles team, 8-6, before Cotet took No. 46 Clement Reix of Clemson down to the wire in a close loss, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-3.

A sophomore from Murrieta, Calif., Abayan earned wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles position for the Falcons, beating South Dakota State's Kate Wylie, 6-0, 6-1, Eastern Washington's Casey Knox, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, Southern Utah's Carmen Blanco, 6-1, 6-0, and Colorado College's Leah Zipperstein, 6-2, 6-3. Abayan also went 4-0 in doubles action, teaming up with two separate partners at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to post wins over South Dakota State, 8-2, Eastern Washington, 8-3, Southern Utah, 8-6, and Colorado College, 8-2.
