COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico's David Kowalski is this week's Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after the Lobos' 7-0 sweep of Northern Arizona last week. This is Kowalski's first player of the week award.

Playing at the No. 2 position, Kowalski, a freshman from Carlsbad, N.M., defeated Northern Arizona's Adrian Venturi in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. In doubles competition, he and teammate Bart Scott out-pointed NAU's Venturi/Johnson, 8-4, at the No. 1 position. Kowalski currrently ranks 11th in the region and is 11-2 on the year, including wins in seven of his past eight matches.
