LAS VEGAS -
Host UNLV saw top player Mehdi Bouras advance in both singles and doubles Saturday to find a place in two championship matches set for Sunday at the Rebel Classic at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Bouras came back to down Andres Corrasco of Arizona 6-7, 7-2, 6-2 in the singles semifinals. In doubles, he and partner Luca Barlocchi defeated a duo from Cal Polay 8-4 and then finished off a team from Pacific by the same score to advance to the final. Tomorrow's doubles championship will begin at 9 a.m. and singles will follow that.
"Mehdi won a tough match today against a solid opponent from the Pac-10 Conference," said UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook. "Luca and Mehdi also played good matches in doubles to reach the final. There were a bunch of great college matches today and tomorrow should be another great day of tennis."
