PROVO, Utah - The BYU men's tennis team continued its domination in the BYU Invitational Friday with two Cougars, Carlos Lozano and Eric Nyman, advancing to the semifinals in the singles main draw.
But Friday was a day for doubles. Three rounds of doubles were played with Lozano and Nyman making it to the finals to face Roland Brateanu and Tomasz Grzyb of Utah. The doubles final will be played Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Lozano and Nyman, the 13th ranked team in the nation, advanced to the finals by beating Mahmoud Resk and Beck Roghaar of Boise State 8-4 in the quarterfinals.
In singles, Lozano advanced to the semifinals by defeating Roghaar of BSU 6-3, 7-5. Nyman started off strong in the quarterfinals but had a tough second set. He was able to put things together and put away Malcolm Swan of Idaho State 6-3, 7-6(6).
Play resumes Saturday morning with the single's semifinals starting at 10 a.m.
