ATHENS, Ga. - It didn't take UNLV's Elliot Wronski long to earn his first career NCAA tournament victory as the sophomore standout won his opening-round match at the Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championship on Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Wronski, ranked 60th in the nation, swept Auburn's 56th-ranked Alex Schweizer 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to advance. The native of Cheltenham, England, improved his record this season to 20-12 overall and will now face the event's fifth seed, Kevin Anderson of powerhouse Illinois, on Thursday. The winner of that match will advance to Friday's Round of 16. Anderson cruised past USC's 52nd-ranked Dejan Cvetkovic 6-4, 6-2 in the first round.

"Elliot played a very solid match today," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "He served well against a talented opponent that was ranked ahead of him and came out with a big victory."

Wronski became the fifth Rebel to win at least one match on the national stage and UNLV men now boast a 13-10 record all-time in NCAA singles play.
