LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The University of Utah men's tennis team fell to the San Diego State Aztecs 4-0 on Fri., Apr. 26. After a close 4-3 victory over UNLV on Thur., Apr. 25, the Utes advanced to the second day of competition against San Diego State with hopes of going to the championship match. The Utes will play New Mexico on Sat., Apr. 27 for third place in the tournament. Competition for the Utes will not end after today. The number 25th ranked Mercier/Yip doubles team will head to the NCAA's tournament to compete for the championships.

In singles competition, SDSU's Valentino Pest defeated Corries Scheepers (6-1, 6-4) at the two position. At the three, San Diego's Felix Hardt beat Nik Yip (6-1, 6-2). The Aztecs' Gabe Coren downed Daniel Lohff (6-1, 7-5) at the six. The numbers one, four and five matches were discontinued.

In doubles, SDSU's Mailberger/Redondo defeated Mercier/Yip (8-6) at the one position. SDSU's Hasson/Coren defeated Lohff/Scheepers (8-6) at the three position and the number two match was discontinued.
