SDSU Defeats Air Force in Second Round of MWC Championship Aztecs to play for conference title on Saturday.

PROVO, Utah - With the doubles point in hand, top seeded San Diego State went on to win three singles matches to pick up the 4-1 victory over Air Force in the first semifinal game of this year's MWC Men's Tennis Championships, Friday. The 30th ranked Aztec team enjoyed a 2-0 advantage after winning the number two and three doubles matches and then the number six singles position. In that match, SDSU's Gabe Coren defeated Chris Dong from the Air Force Academy in straight sets 6-1, 7-5. Air Force kept the match close at 2-1 with the win at the number one position where 96th ranked Shannon Buck, a freshman from San Antonio, Texas defeated SDSU's Oliver Maiberger, who's ranked 34th in singles play, 1-6, 3-6. The final two singles points went to the Aztecs with straight set victories from Daniel Jung at the number four singles. He beat AF's Justin Mancinelli 6-0, 7-6, while teammate Armando Carrascosa defeated Trevor Johnson 7-6, 6-3. The remaining matches were suspended. San Diego State advances to the title match on Saturday and awaits the winner of the New Mexico vs. BYU match later today. The championship match will be played at 2 p.m. MDT.
