No. 2 New Mexico Defeats No. 7 Air Force to Advance to the Semifinals of the 2009 MWC Men's Tennis Championship

New Mexico vs. Air Force Scores

Mountain West Conference Player of the Year Johnny Parkes earned the fourth point at No. 1 singles, (6-2, 6-1) as No. 2 seed New Mexico beat No. 7 Air Force, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Championship in Albuquerque, N.M. New Mexico will face UNLV in the semifinals at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 24 at the Jerry Cline Tennis Center.

The Lobos earned the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Parkes and Miles Bugby won the No. 1, 8-2, over Brett Rodgers and Taylor Soster. Lobos Graeme Kassautzki and Joe Wood won the No. 2 doubles, 8-3, over Austin Francis and Cody Hall.

Phil Anderson earned the second point for UNM at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Soster, while Wood picked up the third Lobos point at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over James Tomlin.
