ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -

No. 5-seed San Diego State University advanced to the semifinals of the 2009 Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 win over No. 4-seed BYU at the Jerry Cline Tennis Center in Albuquerque, N.M. The Aztecs will face No. 1 seed TCU at 10 a.m. MT on Friday, April 24.

San Diego State took the doubles point for a 1-0 lead. Aztec duo Bartosz Golas and Tim Schulz van Endert defeated Georgy Batrakov and A.J. Young, 8-3 at No. 2 doubles and Achim Ceban and Juan Gomez beat Thomas Shubert and Daniel Hwang, 8-5 at No. 1 doubles to secure the first point of the match for SDSU.

Ceban earned the second point for SDSU at No. 1 singles, beating BYU's Evan Urbina, 6-2, 6-2. His doubles partner van Endert put SDSU ahead, 3-0, with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Batrakov at No. 5 singles.

The Aztecs won the match, 4-0, on a Gomez win at No. 2 singles over Roman Warias, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.

San Diego State and BYU are both 15-11 overall.
