STOCKTON, Calif. - The No. 59 BYU men's tennis team defeated the Tigers of the University of the Pacific 5-2 on Saturday. With the win, the Cougars extend their record to 7-3 and Pacific fell to 11-4 on the season.

"This is a good way to start off a long week of matches on the road," said BYU assistant coach Brad Pearce. "We would have liked to win the match 7-0 but a win is a win."

Junior Erik Nyman continued to play well at the No. 1 singles spot by defeating Lennart Maack 6-3, 6-2. Senior Carlos Lozano also came up with a big win for the Cougars at the No. 2 spot by beatin Arnar Sigurdsson 6-1, 7-6. Alonso Medina and Jeff Olsen were the other Cougars to win in singles.
