Lobos Beat Aggies, 4-3 New Mexico moves to 7-4.
March 10, 2003
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The 70th-ranked UNM men's tennis team pulled out a gutsy 4-3 win over New Mexico State University, despite playing without David Kowalski and with Ryan Stotland still nursing an injury. Kowalski sustained a high-ankle sprain in practice and could not play, prompting UNM head coach Alan Dils to call in Stotland in replacement. Stotland suffered a stress fracture in the foot during the Lobos' road trip to Oregon and Washington and played in his first match since. And despite his singles loss, he helped Brent Salazar beat NMSU's Ben Archer-Clowes and Luis Avila to aid the Lobos (7-4) to victory. Bart Scott, playing in his first match since his knee injury sustained during an accident in Boise, Idaho, won at No. 2 singles and at No. 1 doubles, while 114th-ranked junior Divan Coetzee won at No. 1 to push his record at that position to 6-0 this spring. No. 71 New Mexico/New Mexico State dual match results:
