MWC Men's Golfer Of The Month For September Utah's Dustin Pimm earns first monthly honor.
Oct. 4, 2005 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah sophomore Dustin Pimm has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for September. Pimm posted three top-15 finishes to open the 2005-06 season, including claiming medalist honors at the Purple and Red Invitational. He finished at par or better in seven of his nine rounds of golf for the month, including a career-best 64. He currently paces the MWC with a 70.11 stroke average. He fired a 14-under 202 (70-68-64) en route to his first collegiate victory at the Purple and Red Sept. 19-20. All three of his rounds at the tournament were under par, including his final-round 64 that set a new course and tournament record. In addition, he was selected the Golfweek Player of the Week following his performance at the Purple and Red. At the Wolf Pack Classic (Sept. 27-28), Pimm tied for fourth out of 100 golfers with a 7-under 209 (70-67-72) to pace the Utes. He began the season with a tie for 12th at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Sept. 10-11 with a 220 (75-71-74) and also was the top golfer for Utah.
