Rams Finish Fifth at Radrick Farms Intercollegiate Led by senior John Hayes who carded a final round one-under 71 to finish tied for 13th individually.
Sept. 12, 2004 In their first tournament of the 2004-2005 season the Colorado State men's golf team shot a final round 290 to earn fifth place at the University of Michigan Radrick Farms Intercollegiate played on Sunday in Ann Arbor, Michigan. CSU shot a three-round total 880, nine strokes out of first place. The Rams were led by senior John Hayes (Denver, Colo.) who carded a final round one-under 71 to finish tied for 13th individually for the tournament. Hayes was two-over for the tournament finishing with a 218 total. Sophomore Aaron Weston (Lone Tree, Colo.) and junior Kevin McAlpine (Blargowrie, Scotland) carded their best scores of the tournament in the third round registering a 71 and 73 respectively. Weston finished the tournament tied for 18th carding a 219 total, while McAlpine finished the tournament tied for 29th with a 222 total. Junior Nate Pettitt (Carroll, Iowa) and sophomore Derrick Whiting (Alexandria, Minn.) each shot a three-day total of 227 to earn a tie at 54th. Keven Fortin-Simard of the University of Memphis shot a five-under 211 for the tournament to earn 1st in the individual standings. In the team standings, the University of Wisconsin, Purdue University and University of Memphis all shot a team combined 871 to earn a tie for first place.
Colorado State will have three weeks off from competition before they
head to Albuquerque, New Mexico to compete in the Tucker Invitational on
Oct. 1-2.
