Former Mountain West Conference Golfer Makes Top 10 at PGA Championship UNLV alumnus Moore ties for ninth at the PGA's last major event in 2006
Aug. 21, 2006 MEDINAH, Ill. - Ryan Moore, a 2005 graduate of UNLV, posted a four-round scoring total of 279, finishing in a tie for ninth place at the 2006 PGA Championship this weekend at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois. Moore's nine-under 279 was nine shots off Tiger Woods, who captured the championship with an 18-under 270. During his time at UNLV, Moore put together an impressive resume that included winning the 2004 MWC Men's Golf Championship, 2004 NCAA Championship, 2004 U.S. Amateur as well as being named the collegiate player of the year in 2005. Moore has had a banner year in 2006, earning more than $690,000 highlighted by a second place finish at the Buick Championship. The 88th PGA Championship had numerous other golfers from Mountain West Conference institutions place in the top 30, including Adam Scott (UNLV), Mike Weir (BYU), Tim Herron (New Mexico), Chad Campbell (UNLV) and Dean Wilson (BYU).
