SALT LAKE CITY - Ute senior Ashdon Woods won the Wyoming State Amateur Championship, held July 22-25 at Purple Sage Golf Club in Evanston, Wyo. Three other Utes, redshirt freshman Chace Bickmore, incoming freshman Nick Carter and junior Nick Micek, have qualified for the Utah Open, which takes place Friday-Sunday (July 30-Aug. 1) at Alpine Country Club.

Woods, a native of Lander, Wyo., won his state tournament by eight strokes, firing 69-71-71 (211). Woods was the Utes' top finisher at the 2004 Mountain West Conference Championships, placing 14th.

In qualifying for the Utah Open at South Mountain Golf Club on Monday, Bickmore shot 78, Micek had a 75 and Carter scored a 71.
