Two Rams Selected as All-American Scholars Whiting, Pettitt named as GCAA All-American Scholar
July 24, 2006 Norman, Okla. - CSU men's golfers Nate Pettitt and Derrick Whiting were selected to the GCAA Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar List. Only juniors and seniors are eligible to be a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar and must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grad-point average. In addition, golfers must have under a 76.0 stroke average. Pettitt, a senior from Carroll, Iowa, held a 3.649 GPA with a major in finance and real estate. He was third on the team with a 73.05 stroke average on the season including a sixth place finish in the Pioneer Classic and a tie for 25th in the Mountain West Championships. Whiting, a junior from Alexandria, Minn., registered a 3.363 GPA majoring in speech communications. He led CSU with a 72.21 stroke average and was CSU's sole representative in the NCAA Regional Tournament where he finished 46th. He had top 10 finishes in two events including the Rice Intercollegiate where he placed first with a three-day score of 219.
