Ten MWC Men's Golfers Earn 2009 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

The Mountain West Conference had 10 men's golfers named 2009 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars as announced Thursday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Air Force's Tom Whitney, BYU's Robbie Fillmore and Brady Johnson, Colorado State's Bryce Hanstad and Zen Brown, New Mexico's Nick Geyer, Jon Sauer and Steve Saunders, TCU's Travis Woolf and UNLV's Brett Kanda were among the 108 players throughout the country that earned the honor in Division I. To be eligible, student-athletes must have been a junior or senior academically during the 2008-09 season, have competed in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participated in 70 percent of their team's competitive rounds or competed in the NCAA Championships, had a stroke average under 76.0 and maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college of university.
