SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -
Former UNLV men's golf standout Scott Lander split a pair of single matches in the final round of Palmer Cup play to lead the U.S. to a 18-6 victory over the Great Britain and Ireland squad at Baltusrol Golf Course on Thursday.
Lander birdied the 17th hole in his first round of the day to take a one-stroke advantage and eventually defeat Kyron Sullivan of the University of Wales Cardiff, Institute, 1 up. Lander's victory was one of seven for the U.S. squad in the morning round.
In the afternoon round of play, Lander faced Augusta State's Oliver Wilson in match play. Lander gave up one hole on the front nine and was two behind when he bogeyed the par-3 16th to drop his only decision of the competition, 3 and 2. It was one of three matches Team USA dropped in the final round.
