Spencer Levin Moves Up U.S. Open Leaderboard
Levin Currently Tied for 13th
June 19, 2004 SOUTH HAMPTON, N.Y. - Sophomore Spencer Levin of the University of New Mexico men's golf team moved his way up the leaderboard from a tie for 23rd to a tie for 13th. Levin shot a 1-over par round of 71 on the par-70, 6996 yard Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in South Hampton, N.Y., and is currently 3-over par (69-73-71=213) for the tournament. Levin's 1-over par 71 was tied for the 11th best round of the day as only 10 players shot even par or better. Levin also is the current low amateur by three strokes over Bill Haas and Chez Reavie. Levin shot a 34 on the opening nine with birdies on 5 and 8 and a bogey on 9. On the second nine Levin bogeyed 10 and 13 and was even over the other seven holes to shoot a 37. The third round leader at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is Retief Goosen ,who is at 5-under par.
