COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Six Mountain West Conference Student-Athletes were named to GTE At-Large Academic All-District teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). BYU's John Hedengren, SDSU's Mike Koch, UNLV's Jeremy Anderson and Utah's Teren Jameson were named to the first team, while BYU's Scott Bunker was a second-team selection in District VIII. SDSU's Johnson and BYU's Bunker competed in the sport of Men's Volleyball, a non-sponsored Mountain West Conference Sport. Wyoming's Joe Hall earned first-team honors in District VII.

A junior from Richland, Wash., Hedengren finished third in the 10,000-meter run and seventh in the 5,000 meters at the 2000 MWC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Anderson, a senior from Lake Mary, Fla., was named the first-ever Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Year and is a two-time first-team All-American. Jameson, a sophomore from Taylorsville, Utah, placed second in the 5,000-meter run at the 2000 MWC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Hall, a junior from Buffalo, Wyo., finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run and fifth in the 10,000 meters at the 2000 MWC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, must be a starter on the team and be in at least their second season at the school. The spring at-large team included student-athletes from the sports of tennis, track and field, golf and volleyball.
