Aztec Golfer Earns National Recognition
Sophomore honored by coaches association.
June 4, 2001 NORMAN, Okla. - San Diego State sophomore golfer Lars Johansson has been named to the Golf Coaches Association Ping All-America honorable mention team. The honorees are selected by the nation's collegiate golf coaches. Johansson, who hails from Karlskrona, Sweden, was the Mountain West Conference player of the year. He had San Diego State's lowest stroke average over the past year at 72.20. Johansson won two individual titles during the spring, claiming the championship of the BYU Cougar Classic with a seven-under 209 and the Western Intercollegiate (206). He was honored twice as the Mountain West Conference golfer of the week. Johansson, a business administration major, is an honor student at San Diego State
"This honor is great for Lars and San Diego State golf," said head coach Dale Walker. "As good as Lars is now, he is just beginning to scatch the surface of his potential."
