Mountain West Conference Championship Recap
BYU captured 2001 MWC Men's Golf Championship May 2 at the Sunriver Resort - The Crosswater Course - in Sunriver, Ore. San Diego State's Lars Johansson was named Player of the Year and UNLV's James Oh was the Freshman of the Year. J.T. Higgins of New Mexico earned Coach of the Year honors. Billy Harvey (Sr., BYU), Robby Stephenson (Sr., CSU), Wil Collins (Jr., UNM), Scott Lander (Sr., UNLV), David Hearn (Sr., WYO) and Michael Letzig (So., UNM) were named to the 2001 All-MWC team.

Mountain West Conference in the NCAA
Six MWC institutions were represented in the 2001 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. New Mexico, BYU, UNLV, Colorado State and San Diego State qualified teams for the NCAA West Regional in Corvallis, Ore., on May 17-19, while Wyoming's David Hearn earned an individual berth in the West Regional. UNLV finished 11th in the regional, followed by SDSU (t12th), Colorado State (17th) and BYU and New Mexico tied for 19th.
