June 2, 2003

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Junior golfer Martin Laird of Colorado State University received honorable mention on the 2003 PING All-America team announced today.

Laird, who is from Bearsden, U.K., averaged a team-best 71.66 strokes per round and had eight top 10 finishes in 2003.

He became only the second golfer in school history to win two tournaments in one season. Laird won the El Diablo Intercollegiate in Citrus Springs, Fla., and capped the regular season by placing first in BYU's Cougar Classic. Twice in 2003, he set the school record by shooting a 65 over 18 holes.

Laird also tied for top individuals honors at the Mountain West Conference Championships, but lost a playoff and finished second.

Laird led the Rams to the program's eighth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, most in school history by a men's sport program and tying for the school record, also held currently by the women's volleyball program.

Laird has earned All-Mountain West Conference honors in each of the past two seasons.
