SUNRIVER, Ore. -- University of Utah sophomore Dustin Pimm shot a 1-under par 71 in Wednesday's first round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship at the Crosswater Club.

Pimm was under par just two holes into his round, picking up a birdie on the par-5 second hole. He gave two strokes back with a double bogey on the fifth hole. But Pimm quickly righted the ship with birdies on Nos. 7 and 8 to move to one-under at the turn.

He moved back to even after taking a bogey on the 11th hole. But a birdie on the par-5 12th put him back below par. Pimm tallied a bogey on No. 16, but came back to birdie the 18th hole and finish his round with a one-under 71.

The second round will begin Thursday morning at Crosswater Club. Pimm tees off at 9:25 a.m.
