COLUMBUS, Ohio - San Diego State sophomore Mark Warman shot a 1-over-par 72 during Thursday's second round at the NCAA Championships and heads into third round tied for 12th place at 3-under 139.

Tied for third after the opening 18 holes, Warman once again got out to a strong start, shooting 2-under-par on the first four holes Thursday and moving to 6-under for the tournament thanks to back-to-back birdies on holes three and four.

However, for the second straight day, inclement weather moved in over The Ohio State University Scarlet Course (par 71, 7,222 yards) halting play. The 55-minute delay also cooled off Warman's hot play as the sophomore bogeyed seven, triple bogeyed the par-3 eighth hole and bogeyed No. 10, before settling down and playing 2-under over the final eight holes.

Washington's Brock Mackenzie, who carded an opening-round 5-under 66, continues to sit atop the individual leader board with a two-round total of 7-under 135 after his 2-under 69 Thursday. North Carolina's Dustin Bray and TCU's Adam Rubinson are tied for second just one stroke off the pace at 6-under 134. Three players are tied for fourth, two stokes back, with a five-player logjam three shots off the pace in seventh.

Clemson and Georgia Tech lead the team championship chase at 5-under 563. Toledo rounds out the top three at 4-under 564.

The third round of the 2002 NCAA Men's Golf Championships gets underway Friday at 7 a.m. (EDT). Warman will tee off from the No. 10 hole approximately two hours later at 8:57 (EDT).
