The tournament consisted of 141 collegiate golfers. "What a great career David (Hearn) had here at Wyoming" said UW men's golf coach Roger Prenzlow. "Even though he wasn't able to move on to the NCAA Championship, he accomplished things at Wyoming that no one ever had before. He has set new standards for future Wyoming golfers to attain, and I'm very proud of the way he has represented our program through his four years. "Now, we can look forward to following David's golf career from here. We wish him all the best in his future in golf." The top 10 teams from the West Regional advanced on to the NCAA Championship plus the top two individuals, who were not a member of one of those Top 10 teams.
