CSU Finishes 20th In NCAA West Regional Tournament Senior John Hayes led the Rams with an even-par 70 in the final round.
May 21, 2005 Palo Alto, Calif. - The Colorado State men's golf team finished in 20th place in the NCAA West Regional Tournament with a final round score of 285, their best round of the event by 17 strokes. The Rams finished with a three-day total of 890 for the tournament. Senior John Hayes led the Rams with an even-par 70 in the final round and finished with a three-day mark of 221, good for a tie for 66th individually. Derrick Whiting came in with a two-over 72 on Saturday and finished tied for 72nd in the tournament with a 222 while Kevin McAlpine tied for 80th with a 224. Aaron Weston (225) And Nate Pettitt (227) finished tied for 88th and 103rd in the regional, respectively. Mountain West foe UNLV won the regional with a six-over 846 while New Mexico was second with a 849. The top ten teams in the event move on to the NCAA Championships.
