Corvallis, Oregon (May 19) - The University of New Mexico men's golf team could not make up any ground on the final day of the NCAA West Regional Golf Tournament, shooting a team score of 300 (+12) to finish the tournament with a three-day total of 904 (+40) and tie with BYU for 19th-place at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore., on Saturday afternoon. The Lobos will not advance to the NCAA Championships for only the second time in the last 12 years. The top-10 schools in the 27-team, 54-hole tournament advance to the NCAA Championships later this month in Durham, N.C. Arizona State finished first with a team score of 852 (-12) and was the only team to finish the regional under par.

Individually, UNM's Joel Hendry finished in 10th-place overall and just missed an individual berth to the championships. The top two qualifiers from teams not advancing to the championships earn an individual spot. Hendry was edged out by one stroke to Oral Roberts' Charleton Dechert for the last individual position. Hendry shot a 1-under par 215 for the tournament, while Dechert finished ninth overall at 2-under 214.

Wil Collins shot a three-day total of 10-over par 226 to finish 67th, while Scott Hailes shot a 12-over par 228 to finish in 87th place.
